Discussion with Jana Binder (DE), director of the Goethe-Institut Bratislava, on the occasion of completing her activities in Slovakia. Guests: Ilona Németh (artist, Department of Intermedia and Multimedia, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava), Patrik Garaj (publicist) and Marek Adamov (Stanica Žilina-Záriečie Cultural Centre, New Synagogue in Žilina).
Dr. Jana Binder, a cultural anthropology graduate, has led the Goethe-Institut in Slovakia for 5 years. In the past, she worked in Sao Paolo, Munich and Athens in the field of international cultural exchange. In Slovakia, she has been interested mostly in the development of (cultural) initiatives, which are fundamental for the active civil society. At times, she is disgruntled by lack of interest of the cultural actors and the questions of social cohesion.
A special French and German edition of the Open Studio was realised in 2015 with the support from the Franco-German Cultural Fund; it featured participants as Christoph Keller or Clemens Von Wedemeyer.
